We often hear that the period of youth is a time of preparation. The development of society will certainly depend to a great extent on the effectiveness of the preparations young people make for the world they will inherit. What we should ask, then, is how young people can best prepare themselves for the responsibilities they will have to take on. Many young people in Central Richmond are impelled by a vision of transforming their community by empowering the younger generation. As they continue to advance in life, they naturally begin to think about attending university and pursuing a career.
Richmond Youth will be offering an exciting internship for youth aged 15-18 this summer. Gain experience in the community, learn more about careers that you’re interested in and make an impact. This summer internship will provide an arena in which knowledge is applied and the intellect developed in the context of the community. Young people will develop capacities in relation to coordinating the junior youth program, as well as gain practical insight into careers that they are interested in. Together, these elements will help them excel in their high school, university and, in their community. Formal references will be provided to those who participate and demonstrate excellence throughout the full internship. Limited spots are available.
What will I be doing?
Coordinate and organize junior youth camps and activities
Engage in further training related to service and academic fields
Take part in opportunities that develop leadership skills
Develop the capacity to articulate meaningful concepts and ideas among groups of people
Develop a personal project
Who can apply?
All youth 15-18 residing and/or going to school in Central Richmond.
Students who are in good academic standing.
Applicants who can commit to the full duration of the internship.
